Recently a customer called us to come out and check their dryer vent. When the tech arrived, they told him they had recently hired another company to clean their dryer vent. Since then, the customer noticed the vent cover was not opening when the dryer was running so they called us.
Upon inspection(which we always do before recommending or providing any service!), we found that the dryer vent was constructed from flexible foil duct which is easily punctured and/or torn. For this reason we never clean vents made from this material but do offer to replace them with code compliant materials. However it was apparent that the previous company had cleaned the vent and damaged it such that it was no longer venting to the outside. This was a carpet cleaning company that had responded to the customers inquiry on Home Advisor.
So I urge everyone to be careful who you hire to service your dryer vent. Or just call Dryer Vent Wizard and rest assured that your dryer vent will be properly inspected and serviced!
